More about EMDR...

Research has shown that EMDR therapy can help people heal from difficult experiences more quickly than many people expect. While it's often believed that emotional pain takes years to overcome, EMDR helps the brain do what it is naturally designed to do...Heal.

Think about what happens when you get a cut. Your body immediately starts repairing the would. But if something is stuck in the cut or it keeps getting injured, it can't heal properly and will continue to hurt. Once the problem is removed, the healing process can continue.

Our brains work in a similar way. Most of the time, the brain naturally processes life's experiences and helps us  move forward. But when something very upsetting or traumatic happens, those memories and emotions can get "stuck." When that happens, people may continue to feel anxious, overwhelmed, fearful, or distressed long after the event is over.

EMDR therapy helps the brain process those stuck memories so they no longer have the same emotional impact. As the brain works through the experience, many people find their symptoms decrease, they feel more at peace, and they are better able to move forward.

Using structured, evidence-based approach, EMDR-trained therapists guide clients through this process and support the brain's natural ability to heal.
